Okay. I’m know that I’m no fashion blogger. In fact, I fail at regular fashion. My life has been spent in the laid back Southern California desert, my jobs have either required casual wear or uniforms, and, well, I’m just not usually interested.
When you talk fitness fashion though, that is an entirely different story. I have a closet and drawers full of a variety of running, yoga, and, well, cute, exercise clothing. In fact, when I first started exercising, doing aerobics videos in my living room 30 years ago, I made sure that I dressed the part because it motivated me. Of course, 30 years ago that meant leg warmers and thong leotards! Yikes!
Fortunately, fitness fashion has come a long way in 30 years. Bright colors, lightweight technical fabrics, and real style are a part of the picture now. Enough style that many people, including myself, go from the yoga studio to the grocery store to the bank without a change in between. I was very excited to be asked to share some of Lorna Jane’s new Fit Fall Fashion line. I absolutely love her clothing, and after getting a chance to meet her at Blogfest, I absolutely love the real Lorna Jane too!
As part of this campaign we had a chance to review several of the Fit Fall Fashion items and use them in our tweets and other social media posts. I thought that the clothes were really cute, but that they seemed to be missing something.
After a while I realized that what was missing was a human being wearing those clothes! And not necessarily a young, thin, wonderfully fit woman. No, what was missing in those clothes was me!
My local, brand new Lorna Jane shop opened just about three weeks ago in Palm Desert, so I decided to head over and take a look at the Fit Fall Fashion line for myself.

When I arrived at the store I introduced myself to the staff. I figured that they might wonder about a crazy woman wandering around taking pictures, trying on many items, and taking more pictures. They were amazing. They helped me pick out a few items, took pictures of me in my silly poses, and even posed for me before I left. Thank you Tori, Lisa Marie, and Tiffany! You were great! And Lorna Jane…you have a great crew at your Palm Desert store!
I decided first to try on the outfit that I had posted on Instagram the day before. That is the Prom Queen sports bra and tights in the picture above, along with the Lana Excel tank in Neon Tangerine, and the Hyper Yellow Coco Excel Zip Through jacket. I have to tell you, when I saw the picture of the Prom Queen pattern, I wasn’t excited. But once I saw it and tried it on I. Love. It! So cute and it fit so well.
I love all the bright colors, but this blonde also appreciates blue tones. So I have to say that my favorite outfit was this one (notice that the other blonde in the room, Tiffany, was wearing the same top). The color is Laguna Beach (love the OC touch), and the Trapeze Excel Tank has a handy little zip pocket in the back perfect for hold a few bucks or a key. And the pants! Silky, light and comfortable, they’re called Prom Queen Casual pants, and there are little zippers in the ankles so that you can adjust them to your liking (thanks again to the girls at LJ for making me more stylish).
And that Never, Never, Never Give Up tank? If you remember, at Blogfest, I received a ribbed tank with that same statement, and I loved it so much I kept it even though it was a size too small. That statement means a lot to me and it means a lot to Lorna Jane. This top, in a more technical material, is free with a $200 purchase.
Here are the outfits that I tried on. I hope that you appreciate how brave I was to pose with the beautiful, YOUNG, women at Lorna Jane. I love the hyper yellow Cecile Excel Tank, and I’m not sure if the Laguna Beach Poppy Casual shorts (love the silky material again!) are part of the Fit Fall Fashion collection, but hey, it’s still 90 degrees here in the desert!
Here are a few more shots I took at the Lorna Jane store:
Oranges and blues and blacks, oh my!
The more I look at the Prom Queen design, the more I love it. This is the Prom Queen Excel Tank (above in the center and below to the left).

Do you enjoy fitness fashion? Do you tend to wear fitness clothes most of the time like I do? Have you ever worn leg warmers or a thong leotard?
